Man with the green thumb

Take: a portion of blooming imagination, 32 hands that can grab, green thumbs, a boss whose profession is his vocation, and a lot of idealism. The recipe with which kitzingen not only mastered the small state horticultural show with flying colors in 2011, but also won the national entente florale competition in 2013, is now complete.

Without wanting to beat about the bush, kitzingen wouldn’t have won a pot in this competition without the manners of the municipal gardening department. The work of city gardener johannes lindner and his employees has fallen on fertile ground in recent years, and that is by no means something that has to be said only in passing.

When a building and environment committee meets, the "session" can be a "meeting" quickly also run off in the style of a hiking day. Then it goes back and forth in the community, from one focal point to another. Starting point of the last meeting of this kind was the albert swiss school.
An energy renovation began there in the spring of 2011. By the end of 2013, a new heating system, new exterior insulation and roof damming must be completed. "We are already ahead of schedule, albertshofen’s mayor horst reuther (CSU) confirms with satisfaction. In the course of this work, however, it quickly became clear that there was much more to be done at the school, and so the general renovation began. This must be completed by the end of 2014 in order to be guaranteed the state’s claim funds.
Christian kuster from the commissioned architectural firm AK-plus presented the outstanding measurements in detail to the municipal politicians. After that, it was decided to carry out locksmith work on the stairs, walkways and the roofing of the entrance to the gymnasium, as well as to renovate the chimney system and carry out a wide range of work on the ventilation systems. With more than 90,000 euros, they make up the largest item in the budget plan "however, the amount has been negotiated very roughly and will certainly not be exhausted to this extent", reuther appeased.
Escape balconies, for example, still have to be built into the facade, a "green classroom" with stone banks in the free one does not build against it. Paving work, new staircases and various works on the school’s grounds are now underway. The city is now looking for sponsors for new trees in front of the school.
The "red square" was subjected to a critical review, the sports field behind the school. Cracks or first holes in the rubber coating make an intervention necessary here. If the running track and the all-weather pitch are completely renewed, the cost will be around 76,000 euros.
"The pitch will only last another ten years at best", explained architect kuster. It remains to be seen whether it will be enough just to repair the holes by then, or whether the item will be integrated into the general renovation.

flood of A's at kulmbach's high schools

The outcry after the math abi was enormous – among students and teachers alike who, after a two-year qualification phase in which, due to the pandemic, only distance learning often took place, considered the tasks to be too difficult. "For the good math students it was doable, the others hardly had a chance, emma kufner, who graduated from kulmbach’s caspar-vischer high school, told our newspaper the day after the exam. Teachers hit the same notch.

Better than 2020

The ministry of culture has come under criticism. Many have signed a petition that has found almost 40000 supporters nationwide. Today, after the grades have been announced, it is clear that the vast majority of the 35,000 graduates in bavaria have passed not only math, but the entire abi with flying colors. "After the first feedback from the schools, it appears that the overall average could be slightly better than in previous years. It will probably be between 2.1 and 2.2", announces minister of education michael piazolo (free choice) in response to our inquiry. In german, the average could even be a little better. Even in math – where the range in recent years has been between 2.98 and 3.26 – there has been no drop in performance. The reason for the latter? "Surely also due to the fact that the teachers were looking for points", says linh nguyen, who graduated from MGF high school.

plans are being made for fortschendorf

Monday’s meeting of the town council in the town hall of pressig was characterized by unanimity. First, however, mayor hans pietz () had to exchange the audience from fortschendorf, because the agenda item project former leiner brewery with pub in the framework of the demand offensive northeast bavaria had to be moved to the non-public session.

Burger gerhard jungkunz thought this was a pity, as some of the listeners had come to the meeting precisely because of this point. So why, he asked, was this item now not being dealt with in public?. In addition, the head of the community informed that there are still some open questions, especially with regard to the demand and financing, which must first be clarified internally. Of course in another meeting this topic will be discussed again in public session, said pietz.

Now it’s a case of wait and see: around 400 employees of the "help for the disabled child" association currently preparing for collective bargaining negotiations. Strikes are not ruled out. 51 percent of the association’s three subsidiaries, the curative education facilities, the school support center and the medical-therapeutic facilities, were taken over by wefa (gemeinnutzige werkstatten fur angepasste arbeit) last year. But frustration about what employees see as unfair wages remained.

A flat-rate pay scale at the level of the public sector, a collective bargaining agreement for all employees and regulated further training – that’s what the workforce is demanding from wefa management. The berlin collective bargaining secretariat of verdi must now confirm the demands and in turn forward the request for negotiations to the employer. "Then it will start right away, hopefully before the summer vacations", says magdalene majeed, who as verdi union secretary is in close contact with the employees.
