More accidents, fewer injuries in the district of bad kissingen

Six people killed in traffic accidents in county. There were 1142 wildlife accidents on the country roads. Many children injured in accidents.Crashes in the district have been on the increase for years. "After a low of 2677 accidents in 2014, the number of traffic accidents recorded in the entire district of bad kissingen rose to a total of 3185 in the following years", police officer lothar manger summarizes the statistics for the country roads. As a traffic officer, he evaluates the figures for the three police inspectorates (pis) in the district. His record: more accidents, but fewer injuries. The number of traffic fatalities on rural roads also declined: from five in 2016 to four in 2017. However, because two people died on the two highways after a year without traffic fatalities (see report below), there was a total of one more traffic fatality in the county.

More accidents involving children

The number of injuries on the roads fell from 491 to 454, a decrease of 7.5 percent. However, there is a contrary trend in accidents involving children: after ten accidents involving people up to 14 years of age in 2016, there were 17 accidents last year. Manger doesn't know the reason for the development either: "there is no clear cause for the accidents involving children and no explanation as to why there are more of them."
It all started with the child accidents a year ago in pfaffenhausen: on 25. March, a five-year-old was hit by a car backing out of a parking lot and suffered blunt pelvic trauma.

On 2. April an eight-year-old girl fell off her new bike in bad bruckenau. She broke her radius and ulna of the left arm. Two weeks later, there were two more bicycle accidents: on the road from sinnberg to nudlingen, a ten-year-old seriously injured his leg, and in hammelburg, an eight-year-old collided with a vehicle and sustained serious injuries. On 21. In june, a seven-year-old boy was hit by a car on his way home from school in hammelburg, germany, on june 4. July a 14-year-old fell from his bicycle in poppenroth. There were two bicycle accidents in a short period of time in elfershausen: at the end of july, an eleven-year-old boy fell, and on november 1, a nine-year-old boy was killed on the road. August, a twelve-year-old injured himself while trying out tricks on the BMX course.

Semi-trailer rolled over the leg

A serious accident occurred on 7. August in oerlenbach: a 22-month-old toddler rolled his bicycle into the roadway of the kreisstrabe. The boy's lower leg was caught under a semitrailer, and the child was seriously injured. Only a few days later, a 64-year-old woman with a two-and-a-half-year-old child in her arms wanted to cross the street in munnerstadt. She was hit by a car, the child fell, and the woman was slightly injured on the knee.
On 9. September, an eight-year-old suffered a minor head injury in an accident in euerdorf, according to the police. On 6. October, there was a bicycle accident at the burghausen traffic circle in which a car driver hit a 13-year-old. On 13. November, a nine-year-old boy was hit by a car on his way home in bad kissingen, and shortly afterwards a twelve-year-old boy was hit in mabbach. Fortunately, both schoolchildren were only slightly injured. In oberleichtersbach, an eight-year-old boy broke his lower leg when he fell off his bicycle, and just one day later a small van rolled over the legs of a five-year-old boy, who was seriously injured. Finally, on st. Nicholas' day, there was an accident on the way to school in schwarzelbach, after which the driver fled the scene. The eight-year-old schoolboy got away with a round of the loop.
The trend towards more accidents was evident throughout the entire district: at the bad kissingen police station, the number of accidents handled rose from 1,728 in 2016 to 1,828 last year. That makes a plus of 5.8 percent. In hammelburg, the number of accidents rose by 6.1 percent from 734 to 779, in bad bruckenau by 14.5 percent from 522 to 598. The increase is mainly due to accidents involving wild animals: in the county as a whole, the number of accidents rose by 172 from 970 to 1142, i.E. By 17.7 percent. "This means that more than one in three accidents is a wildlife accident", says lothar manger. Due to the unknown number of unreported wildlife accidents, the traffic officer assumes that the percentage is actually much higher.
In the area of responsibility of the PI bad kissingen there were two traffic fatalities this year: a motorcyclist died near mabbach, a fubganger was fatally injured next to the federal highway in the direction of albertshausen. Accident blackspots in the city were, according to manger, the schlachthof crossing, the ostring/bergmannstrabe crossing, and theresien-, schonborn- and hemmerichstrabe. At auberorts, the "pyramid" on the schindberg near munnerstadt was the scene of many crashes in the direction of munnerstadt, at the "waldschlosschen" on noodles as well as on the lauter crossing.
