Let peace come to earth

The gospel choir of the sangverein sand 1900 has long outgrown its infancy. The approximately 30 singers presented themselves in the fifth year of the existence in the best way gerustet for their assignment. They see their task in conveying the good news to their audience, but not so piously, but also in a modern way. With their music, the singers also want to appeal to people who are not so close to the church. After the change of conductor and for the third performance in the parish church st. The choir had a few surprises in store for st. Nicholas.
With the traditional gospel "I'm gonna sing" the program was opened swinging. Chairwoman sigrid klinger addressed the audience and introduced the newly-formed septet, which now had its premiere: with "good news" the people were quickly captivated – the spark spontaneously jumped over. The choir set the appropriate contrast with the modern, soulful, almost groovy spiritual "heaven is a wonderful place". The only 15 year old soprano jana pohlmann from bayreuth and conductor lisa mehling from bischberg interpreted "for the beauty of the earth" with their clear and powerful voices by john rutter.

Then followed a song that expresses the hope of salvation: the meditative piece "lord I want to be a christian". Velvety-soft and a capella the septet sang "let us break bread together" a. A real listening experience!

Sentimentally touching and full of blues sounded the well-known "burden down lord". The silence and tranquility in the house of god provided the ideal atmosphere for another poetic interpretation by jana pohlmann and lisa mehling: "pie jesu" by andrew lloyd webber.

The masterful pianist florian mehling improvised "amazing grace" on the piano. After this interlude, the small group shone again with the arrangement "rocks on the mountains", followed by "somebody's knocking" after the sentence by helmut mehling, the women sang about "hope and joy. The rhythmically accentuated "traditional gospels" activate the brain "down by the riverside" and "ev'ry time I feel the spirit" spread out in the room in buoyant springy lightness, followed by the concert highlight: "you raise me up".

Rhythms activate the brain, they demand an increased production and release of the glucose messengers dopamine, serotonin and adrenaline. It was interesting to look into the faces of sangers. However, not only they reflected the radiance of their conductor, but also the audience reflected the hor- and traceable joy of the choir. Full of rhythm and joy were the two modern arrangements by helmut mehling: "when israel was in egypt's land" and "joshua fought the battle of jericho". How lively the christian "pop music" and "joshua can be, was also shown by the encore "rock my soul".

The concert under the spirited overall direction of lisa mehling became a sound experience. The ensemble once again proved that it can skillfully present gospel music to the lovers of this genre. The great togetherness of the choir, which has been growing steadily over the past five years, is visible, even traceable; the "auartstrend" with newcomers at the gesangverein halt an.

Already on mother's day, 13. May (sunday), the gospel choir from sand sings at "sinnzeit, the service of the family pastoral care in the district of habberge at 6 pm in hofheim.
